Community Charter

The Action Team met up with the Rights Ambassadors from Oswald Road Primary in Chorlton to draw up a Community Charter. We had two great afternoons discussing children's rights and how important they are in our communities. Please have a read of the charter we wrote together - we'd love to hear what you think of it. Our next step is to share this with members of our local community to spread the message about children's rights.

Baguley Hall Community Charter

Children will:

· behave appropriately

Article 24

Every child has the right to health care, including living in a safe and healthy environment.

· treat children respectfully

· explain procedures

· behave politely

· treat others as we would like to be treated

Article 15

Every child has the right to meet other children and to join groups of their choice, as long as it does not stop others from enjoying their rights

· encourage and support children’s safe choices

· explain and guide children’s choices

· express opinions in a respectful manner

· listen to adults’ opinions too

Article 12

Every child has the right to an opinion and for it to be listened to and taken seriously.

· listen to children’s opinions

· act upon them when appropriate

· be respectful of others in our community

Article 31

Every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities.

· plan and provide a range of accessible activities for children to enjoy
