Science
‘’Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious.’’ Stephen Hawking
The Science curriculum at Baguley Hall follows the National Curriculum. Through carefully planned weekly lessons, hands on activities and organised science weeks and days, children have the opportunity to experiment and explore all aspects of science in the world around them. Pupils are encouraged to have a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena. When appropriate we use our edible playground in lessons, and enhance the curriculum further with visits and visitors to increase the cultural capital of all our children.
New learning is linked to prior knowledge and the units planned aim to ensure that all pupils achieve the National Curriculum aims:
develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics
develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them
are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.
All pupils are supported to access the science curriculum at a level appropriate to their needs.
