Peace Mala

At Baguley Hall School we are committed to following the Golden Rule of Peace Mala which is simply "Treat others as you would wish them to treat you."

Peace tree

Today KS2 Peace pals helped hang the last few peace leaves made by the children in school. The messages of peace and kindness will hang on the branches of our peace tree in the edible playground to remind us of our golden rule and for children to enjoy. Thank you Peace Pals, you have been amazing this year!

Wilmslow Rotary Club Speaking Competition

Last week Mrs Bulman and Miss Robinson had the pleasure of taking 3 of the UKS2 Peace Pals to represent the school in the Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club speaking competition. The girls spoke to a panel of judges all about Peace Mala within our school and the values behind it. We were so proud of how the girls spoke and answered judges questions. It was a new experience for them and the first time our school has entered the competition. Well done to Zainab, Phoebe and Adriana, our Chairperson, Main speaker and Voter of thanks. Hopefully we will see other entries from Baguley Hall next year too.

May 22nd

Today in school, the children had some time to reflect on the amazing way that Manchester as a community has embraced the Peace Mala message of treating others as we wish to be treated and come together to remember the lives of those lost on this day last year. The children thought of words that represented their reflections and using the Peace Mala colours, decorated bees which have been put on Display on the main KS2 corridor for all to see and feel proud of. We are proud of Manchester and the love that is shown to all who live there, regardless of their race, religion, gender or sexuality. One love Manchester! <3

Trip to Newall Green Primary School

Last week, our Peace Pals from Baguley Hall Primary went to Newall Green Primary to practise singing the Peace Mala anthem ready for our exciting trip to Lllandaff Cathedral at the end of term. We were so excited as we had the opportunity to meet Pam Evans, who founded Peace Mala. After some warm ups with Lee (the composer) we sang the anthem before decorating some peace dove biscuits with our new friends from the Newall Green Peace Council. We then swapped biscuits with a new friend before heading back to school. We had a lovely afternoon and can't wait to sing at the Cathedral with other schools from around the UK!

peacemala display

Our new Peace Mala display is now up in school full of all the lovely work made by children in all year groups at Baguley Hall. Well done everyone!

Peace Mala Day

Well done Baguley Hall Superstars on yet another successful Peace Mala day!

We started the day with activities for pupils with parents and carers in the hall after our Peace Mala assembly. Here, students and families made messages of peace for our new peace tree in the edible playground. Activities also continued in classrooms where children revisited the golden rule of Peace Mala and made random acts of Kindness boxes for their classrooms as well as an aray of lovely activities including art and PHSE. Well done to our fantastic Peace Pals too for all your help. Watch out for them around school being fantastic Peace Mala role models!

By becoming a Peace Mala school we endeavour to cut through all forms of prejudice, to confront bullying, to support human rights and to celebrate what makes us different from each other. Fourteen spiritual traditions, along with their individual versions of the Golden Rule, are represented on the bracelet.

Wearing the bracelet is a promise to help create a better world. Every adult in our school wears a bracelet to show how important Peace Mala is to us as a school.

Rights Respecting School

We are working towards becoming a Rights Respecting school, with the values of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of our ethos. We are aiming to empower our children to  become active citizens and valuable members of our community.
