Modern Foreign Languages Day 2015/16
On Friday 12th February 2016 at 09:00 The Good Ship Badger set off from the Port of Baguley. The passengers were the staff and pupils of Baguley Hall Primary School. Their cruise would take them on a whistle stop tour of the world.
The day started with a huge parade. Everyone who has a different heritage proudly waved the flags of their home countries. Lots of people had travelled a long way to come and live in Baguley, others only a short distance, but we are all very proud of where we are from.
We visited many countries and learnt lots of different languages and found out about the culture and people who live there.
We dined in downtown Beijing and experienced the finest Cantonese cuisine, all cooked by our international chef Señora Boyd and her team.
The ship cruised around France, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Japan, Germany, Pakistan, The Isle of Man, Wales, China, Brazil, The Czech Republic, Poland and Morocco, where the intrepid travellers tasted the finest cuisines of the world and danced many dances. They used local handicraft techniques to create unique souvenirs.
Mrs Taylor is from Poland so she taught us all about her homeland. We tasted Polish food and watched traditional dances. Oliwia, Nicole and Nikola were able to share their home language with us too!
Some of us got to visit Morocco with Miss Gordyniec. Nobody at school is from Morocco but they do speak Arabic there so Zainab, Salahuddin, Jumana, Anfaal, Salem and Mujtabba helped out!
Fernando’s mum made some Brazilian cakes to share in his class because they are from Brazil!
Mrs Wilson asked Bence and Emese for some help speaking Hungarian because that is where they are from.
Mustafa and Osman helped Miss Mitchell teach Urdu as they speak Urdu with their families at home.
